The Athens Riviera

The Riviera of Athens represents the west coast of the Attica region, starting from the port of Piraeus and ending at the enchanting Cape Sounio, home to the iconic Temple of Poseidon. The proximity to the center of Athens and to its International Airport makes it easy to reach and enjoy all year round, considering that the region is the warmest area in continental Europe with a mean annual temperature

of 19.4 °C. Around 70 km long, the Riviera hosts beautiful beaches, as well as marinas, restaurants and clubs, high-end boutiques and shops, parks. Moreover, the port of Piraeus and the various marinas near Athens are the perfect departure points to travel by yacht to many beautiful destinations in the Gulf of Saronic and to the Cycladic islands.

Beaches
& more

Every year more than 15 beaches along the Riviera are distinguished with the prestigious Blue Flag award. Easy to access, organized or non organized, sandy and spacious or intimate and cosy, these beaches represent the ideal getaway from the buzzing city life, where you can enjoy the sun and take a bath six months per year.

In Voula the very organized A’ beach is an excellent choice for families as well, while the B’ beach features dedicated infrastructures for disabled people so they can also enjoy a swim in total safety.

In Vouliagmeni you can access the private Astir beach, next to the magnificent Four Season Astir Palace Hotel: turquoise water and soft sand, along with excellent facilities makes it a most luxurious choice. Next to it, many free beaches suprise you with their cleaniness and beauty.

You can try a delighful surprising bath in Vouliagmeni Lake, located near the seashore: thermal waters welling from undergroud, with a temperature that never goes under 22 °C, will relax and heal you thanks to its minerals and purifying properties.

Travelling further south along the coast, you can stop by Varkiza (great place for the windsurf fans), Agia Marina, Lagonissi, Saronida, Thimari and Legrena: every location gives you a taste of the splendid nature and clear waters you can find in the region.

Culture
& Entertainment

The Riviera of Athens is also home to top entertainment and cultural attractions. For instance you can enjoy a shopping stroll in Glyfada, a municipality that hosts some of the best stores of the capital along with restaurants and bars for any taste.

If you desire to travel to the most southern point of the Attica region, then you must reach Cape Sounio and contemplate the sunset at the archaeological site of the Temple of Poseidon, built around 440 BC.

Cultural visit suggestions:
the jewel: Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center
the unexpected: Eugenides Foundation’s Planetarium
the historical: Floating Naval Museum Battleship Averoff

New investment projects along the coast take shape and are expected to broaden the offer: the renewed Faliro Bay, connecting the port of Piraeus with the center of Athens and the coast, and the new Ellinko Metropolitan Park tremendously boost the interest of Greek and foreigners visitors in the splendid Riviera of Athens.
